Gardening1s.jpgNot only does gardening give you some fresh organic herbs and produce but it’s been shown to lower blood pressure and help reduce cognitive decline!

If you’re new to gardening or don’t have much space, try starting small with easy to grow herbs like basil and rosemary in a pot. These may just give you the confidence to keep going. If you are really limited on space, consider a vertical garden. Pinterest is a great place for gardening ideas for small places.

Each year I gain more and more confidence and have more and more fun learning about new plants. There’s nothing like walking out to the garden and cutting fresh lettuce and tomatoes or green beans for dinner. I started small, a few years ago, with a few tomatoes and rainbow chard and artichokes in a larger garden. When I moved to a smaller place with not much outdoor space, I started working with Aerogardens. Aerogardens are terrific for starting with seeds and then transplanting to the garden or just to have small salads available right in your own kitchen.

Over the past few years I have been lucky enough to have a neighborhood lot to set up and plant raised beds…and now I’m completely addicted to gardening! Flowers, vegetables and fruits all through the spring summer and fall!
